Borders Accommodation

About The Borders

The Border country is an area of Scotland that visitors often overlook when planning their holidays in Scotland, which is a pity because it is rich in culture, fine buildings, pretty towns and great roads for driving.  The appeal of this region is the many layers of history that you can discover in a tangible way. You can meander amongst the remains of a Roman encampment, stand by the burial spot of Robert the Bruce’s heart, walk the same corridors as Mary Queen of Scots and see the home of Sir Walter Scott virtually unchanged since the day he died in 1832

The Borders landscape is one of gently rolling hills and fertile farmland. The agricultural quality of the farmland in this region helped to create some very wealthy families, so the Borders can also boast some of Scotland’s finest country houses. Grandest of them all is Floors Castle, the home of the Duke of Roxburghe, who still lives here in palatial style.

The Borders is also famous for its many ruined abbeys and most of our recommended accommodation is clustered around the Abbey towns of Melrose, Jedburgh and Kelso.

If you want to learn more about attractions in the Borders have a look at our Travel Blogs:

In the Borders area, we recommend:

  • 2 properties in the area of Melrose; a family friendly townhouse & a luxurious Edwardian mansion,
  • 1 B&B located within walking distance of Jedburgh abbey,
  • 2 competitively priced B&B options in the charming little village of Town Yetholm a few miles south of Kelso.
  • A converted water mill in the sleepy village of Kirk Yetholm on the edge of the Cheviot Hills.

Young Children are accepted in 4 properties, and pets are accepted by arrangement in 2.
