Glasgow Accommodation

About Glasgow & Loch Lomond

Glasgow is a very different experience to Edinburgh. Where Edinburgh has narrow rambling wynds and passageways, Glasgow has a grid layout of broad bustling streets. Indeed, Glasgow has starred in several movies where it has “stood in” as an American metropolis. Most notably it was transformed into downtown Philadelphia for the filming of “World War Z”.

Glasgow does boast some magnificent buildings and its most famous architect must surely be Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Our guide includes details of how to get to the most important examples of his work that can be found in and around Glasgow.

There is no shortage of hotel accommodation in Glasgow, but the B&B market in the city is limited so we have extended this guide to include accommodation in the scenic  Loch Lomond area. Although just a 45 minute drive from Glasgow city centre, a stay in the Loch Lomond area gives you a very different experience and it places you on the edge of the Scottish Highlands.

Our current range of options in this area is limited due to the unexpected closure of several of our recommended B&Bs. We hope to rectify this soon, but our guide currently lists just 7 options:

  • A luxurious guesthouse in Glasgow’s west end near to Kelvingrove Park,
  • A small city centre hotel offering accommodation at competitive rates,
  • An old stable block converted into a luxurious B&B near Loch Lomond,
  • A modern guesthouse set in the grounds of a Victorian country house on the shores of Loch Lomond
  • 3 B&Bs in the pretty village of Drymen, 3 miles from Loch Lomond.
  • A budget-friendly self-catering lodge in Balmaha.
  • A small hotel on the southern shores of Loch Lomond.

Young Children are accepted in 6 properties, and pets are accepted by arrangement in 1.

In addition to the places that we recommend from personal visits, this guide lists 9 additional properties that have been recommended to us by our friends and clients.

With the Guide, you also receive recommendations on where to find the best local:

  • Historic Sites
  • Scenic Spots
  • Tourist Attractions
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Festival & Events
  • Restaurants & Pubs

PLEASE NOTE: The Guides come in the format of PDF files. After payment, you will receive an automated email that enables you to access your Scotland Tour Itinerary.
