About Lochaber area
You may not know of Lochaber, but you will almost certainly have heard of Fort William, which is the largest town in this part of the Highlands. The region called Lochaber encompasses the famous landmarks of Glen Coe, Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan and the Great Glen. It also includes the beautiful, but sparsely populated areas of Morvern, Sunart and Moidart.
Whilst the town of Fort William could never really be described as attractive, it is surrounded by great scenery which makes it a good base for exploring the Western Highlands. The region is famous for its outdoor activities and has facilities that cater for mountain bikers, ice wall climbers, mountaineers, skiers and hikers. It is also the place where you will find the Jacobite Steam train and several of the film locations used in the “Harry Potter” movies.
