About Lochalsh area
The Lochalsh area is the peninsula of the Scottish mainland beside the Skye Bridge. This is where you find the iconic Eilean Donan castle. It is a good place to base yourselves as it gives you easy access to Skye with the benefit of staying somewhere that is often a bit quieter and, in our opinion, more attractive than Skye.
Our accommodation in this area is located around the villages of Morvich, Dornie (beside Eilean Donan), Reraig, Duirinish and Plockton. Most of these villages have (or are not too far away from) cozy pubs where you’ll be able to meet the locals and maybe hear some live music. Whilst all of these places are scenic, Plockton stands out as one of the most picturesque villages in Scotland. This does mean that Plockton tends to book up quite fast so don’t leave it too late if this is where you want to stay.
