The Nevis Range is the highest mountain resort and the only gondola system in Scotland. Located on Aonach Mor, the closest mountain to Ben Nevis, it offers winter and summer activities for the whole family.
The Nevis Range has a network of paths for walkers and mountain bikers, who can use the gondolas to transport their bikes up the mountain. The gondolas have external mounting points for carrying bikes. There are specialized tracks for mountain bikers including a terrifyingly steep trail that descends 2000ft. You can watch the mountain bikers descending as the tracks pass close to the route of the cable cars in some places.
From the top station of the cable car, you can walk a short distance along a well made path to a view point. The views from the top are stunning, and on a clear day you can see as far as the mountain peaks on the Isles of Skye and Mull. Do remember to take something warm to wear as the wind can be biting at the top.
In the winter, the gondolas are of course used by skiers as Aonach Mor is one of the few ski resorts in Scotland. There is a ski and snowboard school.
The Nevis Range is ideal for walkers as it takes people sufficiently high up the mountain to have fabulous views and access to the well defined footpaths. The Snowgoose Restaurant at 2150 ft / 655 m is nothing glamorous and is a bit like a motorway service station, but you'll welcome their hot coffee and food after a few hours trekking in nature.
